The bright and colorful Gekidan Tachibana Kikutarou is one of the most popular Taishu Engeki troupes of today. However the charm of this troupe originates from presence of the assistant chairman of the troupe, Daigoro Tachibana. He started his life on stage at the tender age of three (3) and currently serves as the assistant chairman of the troupe. Takeshi Kitano fell in love with his performance in Asakusa Taisho-kan and asked him to appear in his film Zatoichi:The Blind Swordsman (2003). Kitano then rewrote the script for his new character, Osei, who was played by Tachibana. In the film, as a 16-year old onnagata (female impersonator), Tachibana was showing off a bewitching dance movements that one can not imagine.Eight years after. Daigoro Tachibana performs his art in Kobe for his Succession ceremony this 23rd of March.
